Matteo
Lucca was born in Forlì, Italy in 1980, graduated in Sculpture from the Academy
of Fine Arts in Bologna and began his artistic career and research in the late
‘90s, participating in art events, as well as collective and personal
exhibitions, art fairs and always receiving positive critique.
His art was
presented at the 47Th edition of the Premio Campigna in Santa Sofia
(Italy), the “Germine Musce” exhibition in Forlì (Italy), Art Verona, Artefiera
Bologna, Biennale of Roncaglia and the international sculpture exhibition
OPEN12, curated in Venice by Massimo Pulini.
In 2004 he
won first place in the “La Vita Intesa Come Rinascita” art contest, held by the
A.U.S.L. in Ferrara, for creating a bronze installation for the gardens of
Bondeno Hospital (FE).
In 2007 he
produced a group of sculptures dedicated to the blood donors of A.V.I.S., which
is now located within the grounds of the Pierantoni Hospital in Forlì (Italy).
His
artistic works are expressed through the use of diverse materials, like copper,
plaster and fabric to name only few, but in recent years he has focused on the
use of bread to create sculptures, performances and installations, such as in Bread-men, a personal exhibition within
the “Art in nature” project, in the form of installation in San Paolo in Alpe,
inside the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Santa Sofia, (Italy) in
collaboration with Galleria Vero Stoppioni.
Subsequently,
he showed this work in the collective exhibition “Post War” in Isorropia Home
Gallery, Milan; and in the solo exhibition entitled “Gold Wears Down” in
Magazzeno Art Gallery in Ravenna.
Other art
collaborations in which his works are present: at “Hettabretz” headquarter and
show-room in Bologna and Milan (private collection); in Capri Palace Hotel, in
Capri island; Young Artists collection at the Forlì Town Hall (Italy); at the
Vero Stoppioni Contemporary Art Gallery in Santa Sofia (FC).
He currently
lives and works in Italy.
